Creation
Symbol: The Earth
Scripture: Genesis 1:1-2:3
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form and void, and darkness over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters." Genesis 1:1,2
"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."Genesis 1:26,27
Discussion Questions
1. Does today's scripture reading give any clues to why God created man? Why did He create you, or, what is the purpose for which He made you? How are you fulfilling this purpose?
2. In what likeness did God create man? What does this 1 Corinthians 11:7 say about man?
3. When we understand that man was made in the likeness of God how should it change our actions? See James 3:9,10
Making the Symbol

Use a blue piece of felt or construction paper to make a circle. Use green or brown felt (or construction paper) to make the continents and glue onto the circle.
